Trumpagruel
“The Horrible & Terrible Deeds & Words of the Very Renowned Trumpagruel"
A series of lithographs created in collaboration with masterprinter John Pusateri while Artist in Residence at the Auckland Print Studio in New Zealand. The images were hand-drawn onto lithograph stones during June and July of 2017. They are an edition of 10 each, and come in a purpose made folder, which itself features a lithograph printed title panel and chine-collé. The project was inspired by the books “Gargantua and Pantagruel” written by François Rabelais in the 16th Century, which tell of the adventures and misadventures of two bumbling giants.
Each print measures 15” x 11”.
In 2019 the project was expanded with a series of colored pencil drawings done while at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Co. Mayo, Ireland. The drawings were done on translucent Duralar in black pencil, each with a second sheet of white paper beneath on which colors were added. The drawings each measure 15" x 11" or 11" x 15" in landscape format.
