A series of drawings done during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021, inspired by historic chromolithograph prints of Mexico City. The project was originally planned as a series of prints to be done in collaboration with Blackstone Press in Mexico City, but due to the pandemic that printing project was put on hold. Imagined as series of promotional images for the City of Los Angeles, they depict both the iconic locations such as the Hollywood Sign and City Hall, but mostly the mundane and multicultural scenes that are often overlooked. The images were drawn on two translucent sheets of Duralar velum, with the colors done on one sheet, and the black image on a sheet on top, thus hopefully giving the muted, warm color feeling of historic chromolithography.
All images are 13” x 17”.
